Making Things Right

MTR exists to address a painful reality: many LGBTQ+ people have little involvement with Christians and the church because of experiences of rejection, and redeeming that narrative is at the heart of everything MTR does. We invite and equip curious Christians to rethink their responsibility to LGBTQ+ people, pursued through public advocacy, events, thought leadership, resources, and partnership. A few things distinguish how MTR operates: Theological neutrality. We remain neutral on debates about sexuality and gender, choosing instead to center the core Christian call to love God and love one's neighbor, which opens the door to new bridges and more productive dialogue. Bridge-building across the theological spectrum. MTR deliberately partners with a wide range of individuals and organizations united by a shared commitment to healing, reconciliation, and inclusion for LGBTQ+ people. People over positions. The core of of work is defending people rather than doctrinal stances. This models unity and synergy across groups that might otherwise be at odds. MTR's mission is reconciliation: helping the church acknowledge past harm and build a more welcoming relationship with LGBTQ+ people. That mission is now taking shape through the NeighborWell Initiative, a new model for how MTR shows up at Pride events. MTR's booth provides opportunities for real, low-pressure conversations with LGBTQ+ attendees, a pipeline for churches and organizations to discover and opt into partnership, and signups for Ally Training (offered both in-person and virtual). The name draws directly from MTR's own working model ("loving God, loving our neighbor") while keeping theologically neutral and framing the work as an ongoing practice of repentance and repair. The MTR NeighborWell Initiative: "A movement of repentance, repair, and restored relationship."
